After much deliberation, we decided to end our preferred provider status with Delta Dental and Cigna dental insurance companies, effective January 1st, 2022.  We will continue to submit claims to your insurance on your behalf; however, we will do so as an out-of-network provider.

In the current environment of managed health care, many insurance companies are adding more and more restrictions on what they will allow for their subscribers, as well as being unwilling to negotiate to higher fee schedules to compensate for the rising costs of dental supplies, lab fees, and equipment.

What does this mean for you?  In most cases, you can continue to have your dental care at our office.  However, you will need to read your specific insurance contract to determine if your benefits are changed by going to an out-of-network provider. No insurance company covers 100 percent of recommended services anymore, but most PPO insurance policies will help you with a portion of the cost of your dental care. We have found that most of our patients have chosen to pay a slightly higher co-insurance and still have the level of care that we provide.

If your particular insurance company does not allow you to choose your own dentist, we encourage you to select a different plan when it is time to renew your insurance benefits.  Of course, you may choose to continue coming to our office on a private pay basis until that time.

We appreciate your loyalty and understanding. Please don’t hesitate to call us at 239-939-3332 if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Dr. Susan Ion Hogan DDS
